60th
anniversary of Hua Hin Vithayalai School - great gift of the Lord
HUA HIN (Thailand): 26th January 2008 -- 24th January saw
the opening of the new Mary Help of Christians building at Hua Hin's
Vithayalai Salesian School by Bishop Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil
sdb. It is no minor construction! The building comprises 5
storeys built in a U-shape with a roof covering both building and
space. The first floor is largely empty space but for the
multi-purpose area and is especially for gathering the students and
other activities. The remaining floors have classrooms and
teachers rooms, though the second floor contains the library, the third
ITC and languages, the fourth laboratories and the fifth meeting rooms
and music rooms.
Vithayalai opened on May 17 1947 with just 47
students. It now has 3,000 students from kindergarten to
pre-university.
This 60th anniversary, which one correspondent
describes as 'a great gift of the Lord to the THA Province' is a three
day celebration of which the opening of the blessing and opening of the
new building was but the start. On 25th, the school held an academic
contest day and today, 26th, the final day, is the culmination with a
gathering of past pupils, parents and benefactors.
