Don
Bosco Publications goes digital
BOLTON (UK)
-- "Kindle into flame your prayer life", comes the
message from Fr TonyBailey sdb, director of Don Bosco
Publications, based in Bolton. He
also means 'Kindle', digitally speaking. Read on!
"We have recently begun producing EBook versions of our
published books.
We have chosen to publish them on Amazon, using the Kindle
format.
We began with David O’Malley’s well-known prayer books which
have been used in some of our Salesian communities: ‘Prayers to Close the Day’ and ‘Prayers to Start the Day’. We have
adapted the Kindle versions for personal use renaming
them ‘Prayers to Close my Day’ and ‘Prayers to Start my
Day’.
You don’t have to own a ‘Kindle’, the
Amazon EBook Reader, to read these books.
The Kindle version of a book can be
read on an IPad or Smartphone by using the free Kindle
app from Amazon.
We have priced these prayer books
very cheaply to encourage young people to use them.
All Michael Cunningham’s books are
available in the
Kindle version from Amazon, and David O’Malley’s
Christian Leadership.

This
effort by DB Publications is of particular interest, given that a
number of Salesian Publishers will be meeting next year to tackle
precisely this, amongst other, issues: how do Salesian Publishers today
come to grips with the rapdly-changing scene in publishing? The
indications coming from every quarter are that Publishers who remain
firmly entrenched in paper are unlikely to survive.
