Don Bosco Mandaluyong takes out two Catholic Mass
Media Awards
Manila: 1st November 2005 -- Don Bosco Technical
College in Mandaluyong City, Philippines, won two trophies at the
annual Catholic Mass Media Awards held on 29 October 2005 at the Carlos
P. Romulo (former UN Secretary General) Auditorium in Makati City, in
glittering ceremonies attended by the Vice President of the Philippines
and the Archbishop of Manila. The EPC magazine the Bosconian
Forum, won the 'Best Local Community Magazine'. The 12 x 24 foot
billboard, entitled 'Little Brother', posted along the Shangri-La Hotel
and Mall complex at the heart of Mandaluyong City, won this year's
'Best Branded Outdoor Advertisement'. Incidentally, the celebrity
who read out the award for Don Bosco was himself a past pupil who now
works as a TV talk show host and newspaper columnist.
In 2003, the school also won in the same category
for its billboard 'Prayer Makes Men Out of Boys'. The school's
Sunday radio program, scripted and anchored by students aged 11 to 16
years old for the past ten years, won the Catholic Mass Media Awards
Hall of Fame for having won the Best Public Service and Educational
Program for Radio in 1997, 200 and 2001. The Catholic Mass Media
Awards reward and pay tribute to media products that enhance the total
human development of the Filipino audience through the competent and
professional use of mass media techniques.
