austraLasia 1305
Please bear with the repetition of 1305 in the email subject line
(though not for the numbered item itself) - this numbering is required
to come into line with what is recorded in the archived austraLasia
collection on Bosconet. The discrepancy in numbering occurred
when the server here gobbled up one of the mailouts. It's a long
story...just don't ask!
From the home of Good News: Shalom! A new
venture in an international community
JERUSALEM: 26th October 2005 -- "...8 from
Africa, 7 from America, 14 from Asia, 14 from Europe". So reads
SHALOM, the first hot-off-the-press newsletter from the Salesian
Community of Ratisbonne, Jerusalem, which reached austraLasia on the
evening of the 25th. In fact the issue is dated 24th October, and
the newsletter explains that this will be a monthly venture, precisely
dated the 24th. It further adds that we can expect a bonanza
edition twice a year for Christmas and Easter .
This is good news from the very home of Good News
itself! We are not dealing simply with a studentate newsletter -
they come and they go - but with one of the more representative
theological and formation centres in the Congregation, and one which
receives any number of its members from the EAO Region in any one
year. And it is in Jerusalem, an Apostolic See of significance....
The Ratisbonne Centre is planning a website, again
something which will highlight its unique positioning in the world of
major religions and the Salesian world, but in the meantime, Bosconet
has offered to host at least the editions of SHALOM that will eventuate
before the website is up and running. If you wish to catch up with the
news from that part of the world, go to www.bosconet.aust.com and look
for SHALOM top left on the homepage.
