Australian Province celebrates Final Profession and
looks forward to an ordination
MELBOURNE: 25th September 2005 -- The solemn celebration of
perpetual profession of Bro. Solomona Pouniu Paulo took place at
Salesian College Chadstone (Vic), on 24th September. Bro.
Solomona hails from Samoa but is completing his theological studies in
Melbourne and is a much treasured member of the community of Clifton
Hill.
A large crowd of Salesians, other Religious,
diocesan clergy and Samoan family and friends supported Bro. Solomona
at the ceremony, a liturgy with many typical elements of Samoan
culture, particularly represented by the music, the elaborate
processional presentation of the Word of God, the Offertory procession
and the garlanding of the celebrants. Bro. Solomona's profession
was received by Fr Ian Murdoch, the Provincial of the Australian
Province of Mary Help of Christians, which includes Samoa and the Fiji
Islands.
The Province now lools forward joyfully to the
priestly ordination of Deacon William Matthews, which will take place
on Friday 9th December in Perth (WA).
