ROME: 12 September 2005 -- The four clerical students
from ITM who made their perpetual profession on Saturday 10th September
in Rome, received an unexpected gift - the presence of Fr Manuel Fraile
from ITM who was in Rome to attend the Salesian Bulletin Editors'
Conference being held in that city.
Brothers Domingos C. dos S. Gonzaga, Gui do Carmo da
Silva, Silvano de Oliveira and Tarsisius Trianto professed their vow to
follow Jesus forever on the way traced out by Don Bosco in the Don Rua
chapel at the Salesian University in Rome (UPS). Their profession
was received by Fr Francis Alencherry, General Councillor for the
Missions.
The four clerics, all from East Timor, are actually
studying theology at Messina in Italy. ITM province has most of
the stages of initial formation available within the Vice province but
regularly sends its students to one of the international theologates
either in Italy, the Philippines or Israel (Jerusalem).
As well as the presence of Fr Fraile, there were a
number of Salesian Sisters from ITM and the ceremony was given a
distinct Timorese flavour through a choice of hymns in Tetum and the
feast that followed, prepared largely by the Timorese Sisters.
