austraLasia #2869 Theology students from Vietnam visit Cambodia
SIHANOUKVILLE: 9 June 2011 -- The students and
superiors of the Salesian Theologate from Vietnam decided to
take their holidays in Cambodia and visit the Don Bosco
schools and communities in this Kingdom. Father John
Baptist Nguyễn Văn Thêm, the Rector at the
theologate, led the delegation and this morning stood before
the educational community at Don Bosco
Technical School, Sihanoukville, reminding them that
their Cambodian smiles displayed something of the good
spirit in the country.
The students of theology, and other
Salesian priests and brothers arrived the day previously
from Vietnam by bus in a journey that took them from Ho Chi
Minh City to Phnom Penh then on to Sihanoukville. They
stayed at the Don
Bosco Hotel School and this morning received the
welcoming attention of the educational community.
'"You are sons of Don Bosco, welcome to
your own house. Make a lot of friends in Cambodia", said
Ouer Solin, a web development student in Sihanoukville.
A group of children from the Don
Bosco Childrens Fund, an organisation that provides
support for poor children to go back to school, performed
two traditional Khmer dances with musical accompaniment from
the technical students.
The Vietnamese delegation will travel
tomorrow to Siem Reap where they will see the Angkorian
temples and then they will return to Vietnam, a country with
a solid number of Salesian vocations for the Church.
