4106(II)_Bible Camp for young people
August 19, 2016
Port Moresby, PNG, 14 August 2016 -- 21 young boys and girls from the parish of Mary Help of Christians, Sabama attended the bible camp held at Don Bosco Technical School, Gabutu. The camp, facilitated by Fr. Sonny Fajardo, SDB, with the help of post novices Cl. Bernard Kaiau, and Cl. Sylvester Kuli commenced on the 12th August and concluded on the 14th August 2016.
Coming from the different areas, Sabama, Pari and Gabutu, the ice-breakers conducted by Ms Aileen enabled the young people get to know each other, an important step to sharing and praying as a group. Fr. Sonny then gave a synthesis of the connection between the Old and the New Testament.
“Lectio Divina was very interesting,” said a participant, “as this is where I can encounter Christ personally in the Word”. “It is wonderful to get a deeper understanding of the Bible and God’s Word for us”, said another.
All participated actively in the reflection and sharing session, bible skits, bible quiz and action songs that were conducted by the brothers. “The sessions were very enjoyable and enabled us learn something new at every session”, said several participants.
The parish would like to conduct an inter-parish Bible Camp in 2017.
