5396(II)_Third Superior of the PGS Vice-Province: Fr Gregorio Bicomong, Jr
PGS Viceprovince has a third superior in four years time

Sacro Cuore, Rome, 8 June 2020 -- Following the online consultation in the PGS Vice-province (March-April 2020) and the discernment process in te General Council (May-June 2019) for the new Provincial, the Rector Major with the consent of his Council has appointed Fr Gregorio Bicomong Jr (58 years of age) as the third Superior of PGS (Papua New Guinea - Solomon Islands) Vice province of Blessed Philip Rinaldi, for the six year period from 2020-2026.
The date of the installation will be announced later.
Fr Gregorio Bicomong was born on 19 October 1962 in Quezon City, Manila, Philippines. He made his first religious profession on 1 April 1981 in Canlubang. After his postnovitiate and practical training in the Philippines, from 1986 to 1990 he did his theological studies at the Salesian Pontifical University, Rome followed bya licentiate in Church history at the Pontifical Gregorian University. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1990.
At the FIN province level, he served as Provincial Secretary (1998-2002) and as Provincial Economer (2002-2014). Fr. Bicomong served also as Rector of the Provincial House (2005-2008) and since 2014 until now has been Rector of St. John Bosco Parish, Makati - Manila, Philippines.
Father ‘Greg’ as many know him is also a lecturer in Church History at the Don Bosco School of Theology, Paranaque and also teaches the Postnovices in Canlubang. For sure, many Salesians in PGS and in our EAO region have studied Church History under his guidance.
As Provincial Economer and Delegate for Missionary Animation (FIN) he visited all the houses of the then Delegation of PNG – part of the FIN province until 2015.
