3759(II)_SANDOR, specific formation for Salesian Brothers
October 6, 2015By Fr. Arnold Sanico, SDB
Manila, Philippines, October 6, 2015 - During the recent Curatorium meeting the recently (2013) erected canonical community of Blessed Steven Sandor was at the center of attention due to the stabilized formation program and environment supported by the 'Brothers friendly environment of the community, of the DBCS as well of the whole environment in the FIN province.
Although the specific formation of Salesian Brothers started in Paranaque in 1983 and does continue in different ways, only last four months serve not only the EAO provinces but it's open also to the Salesian Brothers from South Asia region. First two of them from Chennai province (INM) joined the EAO Brothers last June.
This year is the third school year after the regular two years course attended at the Don Bosco Center of Studies (DBCS) together with a whole range of seminars, workshops, excursions and life experience sharing from other senior Salesian Brothers makes this program a wonderful opportunity to deepen and mature the vocation of Salesian Brother.
At present time there are four formators (FIN and VIE: two priests and two brothers) and thanks to the annual average of 50-60 Salesian Brothers in temporary profession in the EAO region, there is no lack of candidates for the Sandor specific formation experience.
One of the second year brothers shares his insights:
"Thank you for your concern. I am very happy to stay in Sandor community. I learn a lot about community life and how to share my talent for the good community fraternal life. Regarding my studies, since I do not have enough English knowledge, it's a bit difficult to cope up with others, yet I give my best and learn many things for my future ministry as pastor. Thanks!"
