Bro. Aloysius Tam Chaik-Kei passed away

Hong Kong, 28 Auagust 2018 -- Bro. Aloysius Tam was born in Le Chang County, Guang Dong Province (China). He did his novitiate formation in the Salesian Missionary House in Hong Kong from 1957 to 1958; made his first religious profession on August 16, 1958. Then, he worked as a teacher and a brother assistant at the Aberdeen Technical School (ATS) – Hong Kong for a year. In 1960, he was transferred to Cheung Chau Salesian Retreat House to take the administrative post. In the same year he was recalled to ATS to work as administrator and teacher. Then he made his perpetual profession to live obedient, poor and chaste on August 1, 1964. After working in ATS till 1981, he was sent to Don Bosco Technical Institute in Rosemead, USA to do further studies for three years.
Bro. Aloysius came back to the Province in 1983. He worked as a teacher and took the posts of Administrator and Workshop Director in the Salesian School – Macau. In the same institution, he held another post as an economer from 1993 to 1995. For the following five years, he was member of the community of the Salesian School – Hong Kong while working as the economer of our children-youth center in Shitan. The following two years (2002-2004), he served the senior confreres of Braga House, a sector of the Salesian Missionary House in the east of Hong Kong Island, as the sector director.
Finally, the last community he was assigned is the Tang King Po School, Kowloon side, Hong Kong for 16 productive years, 2004 – 2018. He had his apostolate in the school and the Parish Church of Mary Help of Christians. His concern and care for the students, for the faithful and the sacred space like the church’s sacristy was very remarkable.
He peacefully went back to the embrace of the Lord and breathed his last at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kowloon, Hong Kong at 11:50pm on August 27, 2018 at the mature age of 83. All his life, Bro. Tam showed deep love for the Lord and for the people around him and beyond. His love for the Holy Mother and for the Congregation was expressed in his prayer and work. He served the Kowloon Tang King Po School community and the Mary Help of Christians Parish community for 14 years till the last breath. He has worked for young people and students for many years and is deeply loved by the students.
