By our own correspondent

Rome, 28 March 2021 -- On March 25, 2021, Mo. Teresia Furuki, Mother General of the Caritas Sisters of Jesus, gave the missionary Cross to three missionaries during an early morning Mass in the CSJ Generalate in Rome. The three missionaries from the Provinces of Korea were sent to Uganda (Sr. Christina Hwang) and South Sudan (Sr. Augustina Kim, Sr. Alezandra Chung). In the evening they took off for their new missions.

Fr. Alfred Maravilla, General Councillor for the missions was invited to celebrate the Eurcharist. During the homily he presented to them, as Souvenir, 10 recommendations taken from writings of Fr. Vincent Cimatti. He pointed out as well that being sent off from the Generalate by Mother General is a powerful reminder that they are going as missionaries to Africa in the name of the whole congregation of the Caritas Sisters of Jesus.

The Caritas Sisters have two presences in Sudan. The first community was opened in 2011 in Juba. The second community is in Gumbo. The parish was entrusted to the Salesians in 2006 in. They established a health centre in 2012. Upon their request the Caritas Sisters accepted to be part of the mission and help in the health sector. Today it has an average of 100 outpatients daily.

In Uganda they opened a new presence in Gulu. It is a formation house with a group of aspirants and 2 postulants.

The three new communities in Africa are under the CSJ Generalate. Sisters come from Japan, Korea and Brazil.

Let us make these sisters feel our support through our prayers from our whole EAO region!
