4708(III)_SDB and Lay mission partners learn the pedagogy of Don Bosco
Second EAO Salesian Studies Workshop started

Paranaque, the Philippines, 24 April 2018 -- The 2nd East Asia Oceania Salesian Studies Seminar Workshop is now in progress in Don Bosco Center of Studies in Paranaque City, Philippines (FIN). Rev. Fr. Francis Gustilo, SDB, heads 42 participants from 13 Provinces through the 3-week seminar workshop that dwells on DON BOSCO’S PEDAGOGY, deepening on Don Bosco as the Educator, the Evangelizer and the Communicator. Other Salesian professors in the different fields of Salesianity, Youth Ministry, Social Communication and Catechetics are also scheduled to animate lectures and workshops. This year’s batch has 16 lay participants, most of them involved in the Salesian work as educators and animators.
Fr. Ambrosius Widiyantoro, SDB – barely a year old as a Salesian priest from Indonesia (INA) – shares that he expects this seminar to enlighten him on the “TRICKS” of imparting the Pedagogy of Don Bosco, most especially to the young Salesians in Indonesia. Ms. Boots Figuracion – a Salesian Cooperator from Philippines-South Province (FIS) and was also a participant in the first phase last year -- has RENEWAL in her mind as she deepens her learning on Don Bosco’s Pedagogy and finds new ways of imparting it in the rapidly changing milieu of the young. Mr. Adool Bonna, a Salesian educator, has LEARNING in his expectations of this seminar, so that he may also echo them all to the other educators in the Don Bosco school in Udon Thani in Thailand (THA).
This year’s seminar will last from April 23 to May 12. Fr. Vaclav Klement, SDB, the Regional Councilor for East Asia-Oceania is also expected to come towards the end of the seminar. The Salesian Studies Seminar Workshop is conducted on a 3-year cycle with 3 weeks per year. The first was conducted last year, dwelling on the HISTORY surrounding Don Bosco’s life and work. This year is on Don Bosco’s PEDAGOGY. Don Bosco’s SPIRITUALITY will be the topic for the third year.
