Dear Fr. Julian,
We have organized here in Manila a meeting of Provincials and councilors of the Congregations who have confreres working in Timor. Canossian Sisters, Clarisians Fathers, Jesuits, Dominican Sisters, Carmelite Sisters, the FMAs, the two SDB Provincials, the Daughters of St Paul, plus some Timorese students of Theology, made it to the meeting. The meeting lasted longer than expected due to the interest it created among the participants.
As a result, an appeal to the Secretary General of the UN for an international peace keeping force was drafted and signed. A letter was also sent to the Superior Generals of the different Congregations with requests of intervention with Provincials everywhere to pressure Indonesian embassies. Two countries, Australia and New Zealand, were signaled as willing to intervene. In the request made to the Secretary General it was pointed out the need to intervene with the peace keeping force even without the consent of Indonesia, an invading power.
On September 15 there will be a prayer-march starting with a Mass in the St. John Bosco Parish in Makati and ending with the reading of a statement in front of the Indonesian embassy.
God bless!
Reinoso
