GC26 resources for those who wish to follow things closely
ROME: 28th February 2008 -- Chapter members have spent
their first evening on Retreat,
preached by Fr José Luis Placencia, Rector of the San Tommaso
Community
at the UPS, a Mexican, and professor of Theology. Should anyone wish to
follow this retreat (if the opening talk is anything to go by, it could
be an excellent source of spiritual reading), it is sufficient to go to
the GC26 website via www.sdb.org, click on 'GC26 Retreat...'
in the RHS
list, then click on the hyperlinked talks once the retreat programme
comes up. The talks will be added as they are given - in English,
of
course!
An additional resource along these lines are the
major homilies
pertaining to GC26 - again they will be added as they occur, and can be
found from the right hand list. Photos are being added daily, and
a
link now also leads to the first of the video-information clips. This
video sits in ANS, so it is simply a convenience to link to it from the
photo/video page of the GC26 website. No additional cartoons
today I'm
afraid, but our cartoonist is working on it!
When there is time to do so we will add other
resources such as Fr
Aldo Giraudo's guide to places of the Salesian charism in Piedmont. So
if it is a case of 'returning to Don Bosco' by keeping up with some of
the inspirational material that GC26 members are given, then you could
be well into the journey so long as your bandwidth holds out.... and
you may be doing a little better than GC26 members on that score. The
system has already shown signs of overload in digital telephony,
integrated network terms ( read'connection'!). There will need to be a
revision of how
that is handled. There's also the fact that putting in proxy addresses
and other small technical details is not everyone's cup of tea. For
many, an acronym like ISDN probably means 'I simply don't know'!
Yesterday saw the completion of the department and
region reports. The
Rector Major's Report on the Congregation will not be released until
after the Retreat.
AustraLasia is an
email
service
for the Salesian Family of Asia Pacific. It also functions
as an
agency for ANS based in
Rome.
