MANILA: 14 May 2010 -- Some 350 teachers from the five Don Bosco
schools and colleges of the Philippines North Province (FIN)
participated this 11-13 May 2010 in the Salesian Educators’ Retreat
“SER 2010” held in the Carmelite Missionaries Center for Spirituality,
Tagaytay City, a mountain retreat and resort place south of Manila.
Fr. Fabio Attard, General Councillor for Youth
Ministry, facilitated the retreat, developing the theme “Salesian
Educator: Disciple of Christ, Apostle for the Young.” The three days
were spent by the teachers reflecting on the inspiring and incisive
“lectio divina” type conferences of Fr. Fabio during the morning and
afternoon sessions. The participants deepened themselves further in
their long moments of silence adoration, and confession, along with
their personal story telling in small groups in the evening.
The retreat ended with each Don Bosco setting
offering their symbols of commitment as educators in a meaningful
Eucharistic Celebration. The Provincial, Fr. Eli Cruz, and Fr. Onofre
Inocencio, Head of the Office for the Development of the Educational
Apostolate (ODEA), along with the Salesian Heads of the Pastoral
Offices of each setting, spearheaded and organized this meaningful
retreat.
On 14-16 May, Fr. Fabio Attard preaches the same to
the second batch of 150 instructors from the 8 vocational training
centers of the FIN. This is the second retreat in the past ten years
where the FIN educators are gathered together, besides the annual
summer retreat of their own settings. Interspersed with congresses and
other forms of assemblies, the Salesian Educators Movement of the FIN
are preparing themselves through these days of spirituality for
application as a distinct member of the Salesian Family towards 2015,
their gift for the 200th birthday of Don Bosco. _________________
