5039(II)_Finally professed confreres Seminar in Korean province 2019
March 17, 2019
Seoul, Korea, 15 March 2019 -- On 15 March, in Seoul, Korea, a two-day annual seminar for the finally professed Salesian confreres was held at the provincial centre. Most SDBs across the country gathered together for the seminar. The purpose of this seminar is to prepare for GC 28, to deepen the Salesian identity and to re-understand the Salesian mission today.
In the first session, a talk given by Fr Philip Park, who is the chairperson of the committee of the preparation for Korean Provincial Chapter 16, was followed by an opening ceremony in the chapel of the centre. In his talk, he explained the crucial point of GC28 and what the Rector Major wants all his Salesian confreres over the world to do and to be, and informed the Korean confreres how and what to prepare for the Provincial Chapter and its process.
In the second session, all the participants were divided into several groups based on the number of communities. Each group discussed and made a plan for PC 16, and elected representatives of each community for the PC 16.
After vespers and dinner, the provincial, Fr Timothy Choi, who was newly appointed this year, explained to the confreres his experience shared with the Rector Major when he visited Rome last month, and a conference that was about several topics and the road map for the next six years. Br Mark Choi, the Provincial Economer, gave a talk on the true meaning of the practice of the happy death, which is linked to the Salesian life and the virtue of poverty.
The first day of the seminar concluded with time to share brotherly affection, and on the second day, all the confreres played sports together on the playground belonging to the Don Bosco Youth Centre located near the provincial centre.
