4982(II)_Second Formation session for Lay Mission Partners
January 17, 2019
Tokyo, Japan, 14 January 2019 -- In continuation from last January 2018's 'true Salesian Pentecost' of the first formation of Lay Mission Partners in Japan, this year too for the second time the Lay Mission Partners formation program was held on the Miura Peninsula (70 Km from Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture) from 13-14 January. The whole encounter was animated by the presence of F. Jacob Hamaguchi, SDB provincial of Japan, and the entire Provincial Project Team.
All together there were 37 members from all Salesian schools, boys and girls homes, kindergartens, nursery centres and the publishing house, including 12 Salesians SDB and two FMA Sisters. Over two days, January 13 and 14, the Salesians listened to the voices and reflections of our Lay Mission Partners in order to plan together for the future direction of the joint mission, where we need each other to better accomplish the Salesian mission.
Together we shared our experiences and dreams of Don Bosco for Japan. As a member of the Province Project Team, Fr Shinjiro Urata presented the handbook of the LMP (Lay Mission Partners) as a guideline for all Salesian family members. The main presentation of Fr Shinjiro and discussion translated the Salesian Preventive System for its application to Japan.
The second day, Fr Kitagawa presented the RM's Letter of convocation for the 28th General Chapter (GC28). Our goal for this gathering was how we can practise the "Don Bosco Way of Education" We had a chance to listen, know and learn what each person thinks and does. Then followed time for gathering opinions on the journey of Provincial Chapter 2019 (Japan) and GC28 in 2020 (Turin).
