Comoro, Díli, Timor-Leste, 13 July 2021 -- From 6-9 July 2021, TLS Don Bosco Tech ASEAN headed by Fr. Gui do Carmo, SDB, TLS Provincial Economer, hosted the third seminar called Lesson Plan for Teachers from two technical centres in the country. This seminar was intended to help the teachers in their capacity building. In the opening there were a team from the National Institute for Teacher and Education Training (INFORDEPE) headed by the Director of ESTV (Technical-Vocational Secondary Education) Mr. João Maupelo, Fr. Gui do Carmo, SDB, Mr. João Bosco and Mrs. Bendita Martins. The latter two were the facilitators from the INFORDEPE guiding the teachers for a four-day training program.

As reiterated by Fr. Gui, it is not because of the previous two seminars were not done well or what not, however the present seminar has its own importance since it helps the participants to update their knowledge and capacity in preparing the lesson plan. Since it was an integral part to help students in their learning and understanding in class, this seminar will be a great help for teachers to prepare their lesson plan properly. There were 20 participants in a face to face seminar while other participants from Don Bosco Maumali and Don Bosco TVET Fatumaca followed online via zoom platform. For this regard, thanks to DB Tech Asean, for their assistance during the formation.

On the first day, the topic was about the annual learning plan. It was so important for the teachers to have a kind of vehicle to support experienced teachers' professional learning and growth. In this regard, the teachers were encouraged to identify the objective of the plan, know how to make a plan. That’s the first step. Then they have to establish clearly goals and objectives, to be precise in the resources that the school already had. The topic for the second day was the modular learning plan which based on the most essential learning competencies provided by the Ministry of Education. This modules include sections on motivation and assessment that will serve as a complete guide of both teachers' and trainees' desired competencies. On the third day, the topic was about the seminal plan of activity. The last day was about the lesson plan. The last but not the least, in this last day of seminar, the participants were guided to draw a lesson plan in their respective area of training. The participants should how to make a lesson plan which consisted of five parts namely component, performance criterion, knowledge, skill and resources. In all four days, the participants also were given chance to discuss with one another and having group presentation on different assigned topic.

In the evaluation, some positive reactions from the participants about the training program comparing the previous two seminars since it touched on the core of their professional and technical field especially in the making of a lesson plan. As it was endorsed by Don Bosco Tech Asean, the target of this program was meant to have a better placement of the trainees in the working field right after their graduation. What the trainees got in class, supposing they have understood it and hopefully after learning some skills, may help them be productive afterwards. For that specific impact, for the teachers a well prepared lesson plan was highly recommended. More than this, the training program may be in compliance with the objectives of Don Bosco Tech Asean which empowers the organisation ( such as TLS DB Tech Asean) and the educative community (with the teachers and trainees) and fosters employment, decent work and lifelong learning in this country. With this empowering and fostering, the inclusive and sustainable economic growth (in the society, in the part of trainees and their families), social equity and environmental sustainability may be achieved.
