Tokyo, Japan, 15 October 2017 -- For the first time after the GC27 the Rector Major emeritus Fr. Pascual Chavez is preaching the spiritual retreat within our EAO region. One full week of his presence in Japan is dedicated mainly to the spiritual retreat for all 45 SF members: SDB rectors, FMA directress and Caritas Sisters of Jesus (zone-coordinators) of Japan, in Yamanaka, FMA retreat house (October 15-21).
The theme of his spiritual retreat talks is focused on the 'Missionary-disciple project' of Pope Francis for the whole Catholic Church and especially for the consecrated people. In order to become every day a salt and light of the world, the religious of the Salesian Family are for more God and neighbour centered life and for more openness to the challenges of the global world.
In the presence of the SDB, FMA and Caritas of Jesus provincials of Japan the talks of Fr. Chavez are simultaneously translated by Fr. Achille Loro Piana, rector and parish priest of Meguro - Tokyo.
Fr. Chavez arrived directly from Italy, Rome - where he is based in the San Tarcisio community (postnovitiate in the St. Callistus Catacomb compound).
After the week of spiritual retreat Fr. Pascual will also address the Salesian Youth Movement of Japan (Saturday October 21) and then will leave for his next destination. Within the EAO region he already confirmed his invitation to Thailand (April 2019) and to Papua New Guinea (July 2019).
