Makati City, the Philippines, 10 August 2017 -- Don Bosco Technical Institute – Makati had its Launching Ceremonies for the first ever Don Bosco–One TVET Philippines on August 9 at Braga Building which was headed by Fr. Jose Dindo S. Vitug, SDB, Executive Director of the said organization.
In his opening remarks, Fr. Vitug said that the founding of One-TVET will help raise and improve the quality standard of all Don Bosco TVET Centers in the Philippines.
Fr. Ronald Guiao, Director of TVET-FIS, said that the talk on synergy between the two Salesian Provinces of North and South gained momentum in 2012 and progressed year by year until the reality of this dream of one-country movement for Don Bosco-TVET. Don Bosco-One TVET aims to address the social economic exclusion of the marginalized youth.
In his keynote speech, Dr. Andree Buhl stated that the education in Germany is not only about schools or universities but also vocational education. “We have many excellent universities and engineers but we also have many very good skilled workers. Our country considers both system of education of equal importance but at times, vocational training is even more important than university education.”
The event was attended by distinguished guests, sponsors and benefactors from different business sectors who in one way or another has helped alleviate the poor from their poverty through technical-vocational training.
Dr. Buhl led the ribbon cutting for the blessing of One-TVET offices.
