Batangas, Philippines, 9 March 2016 - The Rector Major, Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime, SDB and his secretary, Fr. Horacio Lopez, SDB left Don Bosco Batulao at 2:45am to catch a 6:00am flight to Negros Occidental, their first stop in the Rector Major’s three-day visit to the FIS Province. They left Batulao with Fr. Godofredo Atienza, SDB, the FIS Provincial Superior and with Fr. Eugene Maglasang, SDB, the Delegate Superior of the Pakistan Delegation. Fr. Vaclav Klement, SDB, the EAO Regional Superior, Fr. Paul Bicomong, SDB, the FIN Provincial Superior, Fr. Renato Molina, SDB. the Rector of DB Batulao, Fr. Bob Zarate, SDB, a member of the DB Batulao Community, and Fr. Drans Nolasco, SDB, the FIN Delegate for Social Communication, were around to give the group a gracious farewell. Fr. Arthur Hizon, SDB, the Economer of DB Batulao drove them to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA3).
The 7:00am Mass was presided by Fr. Fabio Attard, SDB, the Councilor for Youth Ministry. He also gave the morning conference to the assembly on Youth Ministry.
At around 11:00am, everybody left for a half day recreation to Taal Lake and Volcano. They took first their lunch at the Club Balai Isabel in Talisay, Batangas. After lunch, they divided themselves into three groups for the three boats that will bring them to Taal Volcano.
When they reached the foot of the volcano, each one was assigned a horse that will bring them up to the crater of the volcano. It was a 30-minute horse ride going up. Reaching the top, everybody enjoyed the panoramic beauty of the world famous Taal Volcano and the Taal Lake that surrounds it. After some photo ops, everybody was set to go back via the same route they took while going up. By 4:30pm, the group was back in DB Batulao.
After vespers, Fr. Roel Soto, SDB, the Delegate Superior of the Cambodia Delegation gave his Good Night Talk. He presented to the assembly a brief power point presentation about the Salesian presences and works in Cambodia.
The day ended with dinner and the praying of the Holy Rosary together.
