austraLasia #2802 Don Bosco In Japan and then on to Timor and
Indonesia
DILI: 10 February 2011 -- While we are awaiting news
from Japan of the Don Bosco Relics visit, news comes from
East Timor, now in their proximate phase of preparation for
the visit (to begin 18 February).
The Superior of the Vice Province, Fr
Joao Aparicio, writes that they are organising seminars and
formation events for the Salesians, in particular for the
post-novices and others in their quinquenium years. Starting
from 10-12 February Fr Frank Freeman from the
Australia-Pacific Province is sharing his Salesian
experience with the confreres. He arrived on the 5th of
February and will depart on the 14th.
Recently a delegation made up of the
Provincials SDB and FMA (Sr Paula Battagliola in the latter
case), the President of the Past Pupils, Bro. Adriano, Fr
Rui Gomes had an audience with His Excellency the President
of the Republic of Timor Leste (Dr. Jose Ramos Horta) at the
Palace in Dili, to inform of the historic visit of Don
Bosco's Relics. His Excellency was very happy about the news
and expressed his desire to participate in all the events
during the visit (18 Feb -7 March 2011).
He expressed his sincere gratitude to the Rector Major and
to the Salesian Congregation for the work and mission that
had been done over many years in Timor, specially in the
area of education.
The President indicated that he would
like to accompany the Casket from Singapore to Dili on the
same flight, following his official visit to the Holy Land
concluding the 18th February.

Of your charity, please remember in your prayer Fr Alan
