New seeds planted!

Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna (FIN): 7 May 2011 -- Vocation is a gift, a responsibility and a mission. This year, the FIN is blessed with 14 new promising young aspirants (3 DBTI Tarlac, 2 DBA Pampanga, 2 DBTI Makati, 2 San Ildefonso Parish, Makati, 1 DBC Canlubang, 1 St. Dominic Savio Parish, Mandaluyong, and 3 from non-Salesian settings who one way or another have been influenced by the Salesians in their apostolate to the young)  who will join the aspirantate in Canlubang this school year starting June. They have attended a vocations camp set up at a particularly fruitful time of the year in vocation terms in the Philippines, as young men make or renew their vows as Salesians, or are ordained as deacons.
Fr. Reggie Porlucas, SDB, the Vocations Ministry Delegate for FIN, assisted by Bro. Jomar Castillo, SDB, facilitated the camp. It was held at the Don Bosco Tabor House (which is a center for Ongoing Formation and a Youth Camp) at Pansol, Calamba City in Laguna Province south of Manila. The camp was basically an activity-based camp where values like obedience, prayer, friendship and camaraderie and commitment were nurtured through the various activities which they participated in. One of  these was the pilgrimage around the province of Laguna visiting at least 5 old churches (average of more 400 years old). They also conquered the peak of  the mythical and majestic Mt. Makiling, a rainforest zone. Input and games were successfully organized to help them prepare for their entry in the seminary. Praying together was the main activity of the camp, to help nurture the the seed of vocation which God has planted in their hearts. All these activities may, we believe, be of great help them to build new insights and realizations as they continue to deepen their commitment to try out the seminary and eventually live radical lives as Salesians.
The camp ended with them attending the Ordination (1 deacon and 2 priests) of 3 missionaries to PNG-SI, including one from Korea Province.
