Lusaka, Zambia - The Salesian province of Zmb is blessed with two new priests ordained on the 30th of May 2015 at the cathedral of the Child Jesus in Lusaka – Zambia. Fr. Peter Nguyen (Vietnam) and Fr. Alphoncious Hamweete (Zambia) both belong to Zmb Province (Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Namibia).
In Persona Christi: The ordaining bishop of the archdiocese of Lusaka, George Mpundu in his homily implored the ordinands to meditate on the responsibility that lies ahead as the priestly ministry demands to act in the name of Christ. This responsibility primarily entails acting in the name of Christ.
The 6 thousand seating capacity of the cathedral was swamped with hundreds of priests, religious women and men together with thousands of the Christian lay faithful to witness ordination of 11 priests.
We wish our two new priests (Frs. Peter and Alphoncious) a happy priestly ministry and Salesian vocation. Many thanks to the family, formators and friends of our priests for their accompaniment leading to ordination.
