June 27, 2018
Vatican, 27 June 2018 -- One week after the official publication of the 2018 Synod of Bishops about 'Youth - Faith - Vocation Discernment' Instrumentum Laboris, today was finally published also the English version of this 'Working document'. This 63 pages A4 document will serve theparticipants of October 3-28, 2018 'XV Ordinary General Assembly of Synod of Bishops' in their work. Among the participants would be also some Salesian Bishops as well the Rector Major.
The "Working document" is of great value for the whole Catholic Church, but also in a special way for the Salesians of Don Bosco. Three parts of 'Recognizing' (The Church listens to reality'), of 'Intrepreting' (Faith and Vocation discernment) and 'Choosing' (Path of pastoral and missionary conversion'.
Each Salesian confrere would find in this pages very rich and inspiring material for understanding better the young people of today, to deepen the dynamics of vocation culture as well to get enriched by the world wide listening of the Church to the youth.
We should not miss this opportunity to breath with the Church and with the Young during this special year of grace for all Salesian family members!
Prayer for the 2018 Synod (By Pope Francis)
Lord Jesus,
in journeying towards the Synod,
your Church turns her attention to all the young people in the world.
We pray that they might boldly
take charge of their lives,
aim for the most beautiful and profound things of life
and always keep their hearts unencumbered.
Accompanied by wise and generous guides,
help them respond to the call
you make to each of them,
to realize a proper plan of life
and achieve happiness.
Keep their hearts open to dreaming great dreams
and make them concerned for the good of others.
Like the Beloved Disciple,
may they stand at the foot of the Cross,
to receive your Mother as a gift from You.
May they be witnesses to your Resurrection
and be aware that you are at their side
as they joyously proclaim you as Lord.
Amen.
