CANLUBANG: 9 April 2013
-- The Prenovitiate, Postnovitiate and College
communities
in the vast complex of Don Bosco Canlubang joined forces in
welcoming
the Salesians of Don Bosco back to their roots last April 1.
The Salesian homecoming is one of the many activities lined up
as Don
Bosco Canlubang marks its golden jubilee this year.
No less than the provincials of FIN and FIS came—Fr. Eli Cruz
and Fr.
George Militante, respectively—and also the first Salesians of
the
Salesian Philippine Provinces, Bishop Leo Drona and Fr. Remo
Bati,
along with about a hundred confreres.
It is safe to say that all Filipinos from both FIN and FIS
provinces
are de facto alumni of Don Bosco Canlubang having spent their
many
formation years there.
The date of the Salesian homecoming, that is, April 1, was set
to
coincide with the profession anniversary of many of our
confreres in
the Philippines who once upon a time would profess on the
first of
April, which is also the canonization day (April 1st 1934)
of our
Father and Founder, St. John Bosco.
Incidentally, Don Bosco Canlubang was the site of our
novitiate house
before it was transferred in Bacolod, and finally in Lawaan.
The program began with a concelebrated Mass
held at the Diocesan Shrine of Mary, help of Christians. After
which,
they all headed to the cemetery to pay tribute to our deceased
Salesians.
Past rectors of Don Bosco Canlubang received plaques of
recognition as
well as its distinguished alumni:
