Ratchaburi, Thailand, 26 January 2019 -- Fr Francis Cais SDB, the Provincial Delegate for the Salesian Family in Thailand led the Annual Salesian Family Day 2019. There were around 300 attendants who took a keen part in this significant event. The gathering was held at Nareevitthaya School and hosted by the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (SIHM). It was a great occasion with the presence of the Provincials, the General Superiors, and the Leaders of each group in the Salesian Family with their representatives; the Salesians (SDB), the Salesian Sisters (FMA), Salesian Cooperators (ASC), Volunteers of Don Bosco (VDB), Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (SIHM), Daughters of the Queenship of Mary (DQM), The Sisters of the Queenship of Mary Immaculate (SQM), The Mary Help of Christians Association (ADMA), and the various Federations of Past Pupils (SDB, FMA, SIHM, DQM).
The activities were divided into two sections: in the morning, all participants enjoyed the drama which highlighted the theme of the day, “Holiness is for you too” followed by the opening speech by Fr John Bosco Theparat Pitisant SDB the Provincial of Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. Then Fr Banchong Santisukniran SDB, the Director of the Salesian Literature Centre, presented the Strenna 2019 “Holiness is for you too.” Fr Banchong also translated the Strenna 2019 into Thai which put things in the right perspective for the Thai context. After the presentation of the Strenna 2019, it was a great opportunity to reflect on the insights from the Synod 2018 followed by group sharing and discussion. In the afternoon, all enjoyed many fun activities in the spirit of Don Bosco. The Annual Salesian Family Day 2019 concluded with the Eucharistic Celebration with Bishop John Bosco Panya Kritcharoen, Bishop of Ratchaburi Diocese as main celebrant.
Mother Maliwan Paramathawirote, Superior General of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, representing all participants expressed the of all gratitude to the Bishop and the SDB Provincial. We are thankful to the SIHM sisters and especially the community and staff of Nareevitthaya School for their generosity, welcoming Salesian spirit and their services. May we continue to be one in the spirit of Don Bosco and accompany each other to holiness.
