Meeting of 30 Local Social Communication Coordinators

K’long, Vietnam, 17 November 2017 -- On the last November 15 and 16, there was a meeting of 30 social communication (SC) coordinators of the local Salesian communities of Salesian Province of Viet Nam at K’long retreat house – Dalat – Lam Dong province.
This meeting was chaired by Fr. Peter Pham Van Chinh, SDB the delegate for the SC of Salesian Viet Nam Province, and together with him were the local SC coordinators of Viet Nam Province. Especially, in this meeting there was the presence of Fr. Juan Pablo Abreu from the general office of SC of Salesian Congregation as main resource speaker.
This was the first properly organized of the SC network of Salesian Family Viet Nam Province in order to strengthen this system of social communication, to help building up strong way of teamwork and networking in all the aspects relating to social communication of Salesian family in Viet Nam.
On Nov 15, Fr. Juan Pablo Abreu instructed all coordinators about the handbook of the Salesian Social Communication System (SSCS), this was a book of all the principles to be done in Salesian social communication of Salesian Congregation. Although in a very short time, but with good experiences and pedagogy, the speaker helped all the participants understood well about the role, and ways of doing social communication in the Salesian Congregation.
During the second day of the meeting, all the SC coordinators from the three areas of Viet Nam: The North, the Middle and high land, and the South discussed about different matters to be implemented. In the morning of this day, Fr. Peter Chinh briefly presented about the strategic provincial plan of the Salesian Province of Viet Nam. In his presentation he also presented important or highlighted points of this strategic plan. After that, the paricipants discussed in different groups about how to animate well the SC field at their communities.
Based on the guidelines of SSCS, and reflecting about the concrete situations of different areas, the participants suggested practical directions for themselves, especially focussing on the education and evangelization of the young.
By the afternoon, FMA sister Mary Hoang Ngoc Yen, a member of provincial SC team presented two SC campaigns for the near future: 1) “Disseminating good books and magazines” based on the letter issued on March 19, 1885 of Don Bosco. 2) “Awaking the dawn” campaign in order to “awake” the goodness in the heart of the young so that to make this goodness to permeat to all places.
After that, all the participants discussed in groups about these two SC campaigns, and then also added some other opinions in order to bring these campaigns into practice.
At the end of the day, after each area presented their reports, Fr. Peter once again gave thanks to God and also expressed his gratitude to all the participants, especially Fr. Juan Pablo for his meaningful input in order to help this meeting become so successful.
