3795_Remembering our Deceased Confreres
November 9, 2015By Fr. Jerome Quinto, SDB
Canlubang, Philippines, November 8, 2015 — In a solemn Eucharistic celebration at the Diocesan Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, the Salesians in the Philippines-North Province remembered all deceased confreres who have worked in FIN. Fr. Paul Bicomong, the provincial superior, presided over the mass. Fr. Salvatore Putzu gave the homily.
In his homily, Fr. Sal (who considered himself as one of the senior confreres and among the few foreign missionaries in the Province) recognized the presence of the younger confreres from the postnovitiate, theologate and Sandor Salesian Brothers' community, and those who are in the aspirantate and prenovitiate. Remembering our deceased confreres and noting their virtues and saint life, he challenged everyone to learn from them and look forward to be welcomed by them in heaven.
After the mass, the confreres prayed the rosary at the Salesian Cemetery (just behind the Shrine). The blessing of the tombs followed.
