4421(IV)_Provincial Visitation at Alafua Community - Samoa
June 28, 2017
Alafua, Samoa, 27 June 2017 -- Our annual Provincial canonical visitation started with the opening conference of Fr. Greg Chambers: “Greetings to you all in the name of Jesus Christ.” In his opening remarks Fr. Provincial reminded to all confreres the important of consecrated life.
He highlights some quality of consecrated life. Fr. Greg emphasis that Christ should be the centre of our lives, who is calling us calling and inviting us to follow him. He also stresses to care of One’s vocation is very important to us, as we called to follow Christ more closely with faith, hope and charity, nurtured each day in prayer and strengthened by a good theological and spiritual formation.
Furthermore Fr. Greg also highlights the true fraternal life in community. Mutual love among confreres in community ensures unity among the members without ignoring each one’s differences and gifts.
He concludes his Opening Conference with an inspiration Quote from St. Jean-Marie Vianney the patron Saint of Priest: “God has given each of us our own work to do. It is for us to pursue our road, that is to say, our vocation…When God gives us a vocation, He bestows upon us at the same time His grace to fulfill it.”
Fr. Provincial will conclude his visitation for Alafua community on Thursday evening with a closing conference. On Friday, he will visit the Salelologa Community in Savai Island of Samoa.
We appreciate very much the communion created by the provincial visitation. Our community of Alafua is entrusted with two parishes – Levaa and Sinamoga-Alafua, with Don Bosco Technical School, Prenovitiate and Oratory. We are five priests and three candidates for the priesthood.
