Thanksgiving day in Don Bosco-Ulaanbaatar (VIE)

ULAANBAATAR. The Don Bosco school celebrated its Rector’s day, also called the Gratitude Day or Family Day. More than three hundred students and the staff of Don Bosco gathered to join the celebrations.

  Don Bosco-Ulaanbaatar Celebrates Thanksgiving Day

ULAANBAATAR: November 28, 2014 –Don Bosco Ulaanbaatar Mongolia celebrated Rector’s day, also called Thanksgiving Day or Family Day. It is a month long celebration. It started in the first week of November and ended with a mega celebration on Nov. 28.  More than three hundred students and the staff of Don Bosco gathered at 9 am to commemorate this day.  Fr. Andrew the Rector of the school and of the DB caring center was solemnly received with playing of drum and parade in the gym. Then the Mongolian national anthem echoed.  Thereafter the introductory song theme “We make one family, love one love” sung by the entire assembly gathered in the gym. This marked the start of this the long prepared and awaited colorful cultural program.

The first the Mongolian tradition greetings was staged. Then, one by one music, dance and singing followed.  During the program the greeting cards expressing gratitude were exchanged. The students and the staff expressed with their words and others gestures that they were grateful to the school and to the Rector.  After this, a grand dinner was served for everyone who attended the celebration.  It was indeed a real family get-together.

After the cultural show, the sports and games began. In this game everyone was a winner because there was joy and happiness in every face. After the game, all the staff gathered around the Rector for felicitations. The celebration ended with the thanksgiving talk of Fr. Andrew at 6 pm. He said, “We need each other to fulfill the dream of Don Bosco.”
