4299(I)_Angels in Yellow, second time in Anisakan
February 21, 2017
Anisakan, Myanmar, 17 February 2017 -- Last February 12th was a wonderful day the Lord has given to the people of Anisakan. 41 Koreans who are members of medical team (MGU: Members of Global Union) came for the second time to Anisakan to give medical care for all the people in need.
Domenic Savio Hall of Nazareth Seminary was transformed into a clinic and the stage into an operation theatre. We didn’t need to do much advertisement for the medical group as this is the second time that they are coming to Anisakan. (cf. AustraLasia n. 3940 related news)
From 13th till 17th February they gave medical treatment to some 2000 patients who suffer from various kinds of illness. Patients were given medication some for three months and others even for six months and all free of charge. They did minor operation on many patients too. They also gave dental care to so many patients and for many of them it was the first time in their life to see a dentist.
Salesians, FMA postulants and religious and youth from Anisakan and Pyin Oo Lwin did their best to translate from Burmese to English. There were some 20 translators who came and gave their generous service for the poor sick people.
Fr. John Jeon Bok Nam SDB (KOR), together with his Youth Volunteer group went around Anisakan village and distributed rice to the poorest families and cleaned the environment of the mosquitoes with the mosquito killer sprays. Added to that they painted the guest house of the seminary which never looked so neat and tidy as it is now.
From morning 8 till 6 in the evening, they all served the people with a radiating smile on their face. Some skip even their lunch so as to give treatment to as many patients as possible. They all wore a yellow shirt while giving service to the people. All of us, the people of Anisakan, have seen in our lives the “Angels in Yellow”.
