Taean, Korea, 22 October 2017 -- The Salesian Family rejoice with a birth of each new vocation in any of its group. The Salesian Cooperators in Korea are spread around the country in 25 established local Centers, with three more in formation. Since last May 23rd is being born another local Center, attached to the Salesian SDB novitiate in Taean, on the Western coast (150km from Seoul).
Eight Aspirants (two men and six ladies) are being accompanied by the Rector and Novice-master Fr. Timothy Choi. Most of them are involved in the local Thea An parish youth ministry as catechists of the Sunday school, with a rich education experience. During an initial 2017 Lenten Talk give by Fr. Tim in theri parish about the Salesian Cooperator Vocation quite few Catholic volunteered. After an initial discernment some became benefactors and this 8 members strong group met for the first time on the eve of Mary Help of Christian Feastday, May 23rd.
Taean is indeed located in rural area around the western coast of Korea, quite far from other Salesian communities. New starting Center member are attending the province level 'Formation School' in Daejeon (150+ km) or in Seoul (150+ km) and getting in touch with many Aspirants and Salesian Cooperators from many other centers. Day by day growing in the full shape of Don Bosco - Good Shepherd of the Young.
We remember with a grateful heart many newly born Salesian Cooperators and new Centers around the EAO region!
