3680_KOR provincial Visits Ulaanbaatar and Darkhan, Mongolia
July 21, 2015By FR. Anthony Kishore Minj, SDB
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, July 21 - We were graced with the presence of Fr. Stefano Yang, the provincial of Korea, and the Fr. Isidor Hong, the provincial economer. Fr. Stefano Yang visited Mongolia for the first time whereas Fr. Isidor Hong for the third time. They arrived here on July 17 and stayed with us for a week. The purpose of visit was to see the life and mission of SDBs in Mongolia and to find some way to help. They stayed in Ulaanbaatar for two days, and rest of the days were in Darkhan community. In UB they went around seeing different sectors of our work in the school and in Don Bosco Caring Center. In Darkhan they spent time with the parishioners and with the youth. Before they left for Korea on July 21 we had mass together in the UB community chapel. The visiters were quite pleased to see the work in the mission, and had a very good impression about the service given to the Mongolian people.
The Korean province has been very closely working and collaborating with the mission work in Mongolia. Every now and then we have Korean conferrers, FMA sisters, various Korean groups, associations and volunteers who come to assist us in our work. Just few years ago we had Bro. Marino of Seoul coming to help us in setting up the technical school and to train our teachers in welding and in other trades. We have in the person of Fr. Simon a great missionary from Korea who is in-charge of printing press, a farm and animating the youth in Darkhan parish. He is doing an admirable job, and appreciated by all the people around him.
We are grateful to the KOR Province for their constant willingness to guide, to support and to encourage the mission in Mongolia.
