SDB WEBSITE/ANS INVITATION TO EAST ASIA-OCEANIA
READERS TO CONNECT
ROME: 30th November -- In contrast to all other Salesian regions where provinces,
with minor exceptions, are linked by land, the East Asia-Oceania
region is characterised by vast expanses of ocean. The Internet is
our daily means of connection; email and, where possible, the Web.
Fr. Peter Gonsalves, SDB website coordinator,
invites you to visit at www.sdb.org where
the page that greets you contains an invitation to 'register' with the
Reserved area (scroll down if you need to). The more Salesians who
register, the more possibilities there are of exchange between them. For
Salesians living in the EAO region this is an opportunity that should not be
missed. It offers a chance for file-sharing and for forum
discussion. You will also note that it invites the possibility of
participating in the content of the website and of subscribing to
updates.
There is a further invitation, this time from the
temporary director of ANS (who is also the editor of 'austraLasia'!). We
are looking for good quality photographs of the Salesian Family at work in
the region - communities, works, people, kids.... We are especially
looking for 300 dpi resolution for print publication - in fact any
printed photograph will almost certainly be scanned at that resolution by
default. Digital photographs (we receive many of these from around the
world) are usually only 72 cpi/dpi resolution. If you can bear with the
technology for a moment, these digital shots are mostly suitable only for the
web, not for printing. However, they could be printable if they are taken
at dimensions of 1000 pixels or more; if you have a digital camera capable of
that it will tell you loud and clear!
We are happy to publish your photographs
when and if we receive them...with the briefest description, of course, of what
they are about. One form of publication if they are 300 dpi or high
resolution, and well-composed, is in the Salesian Bulletin Editors' reserved
area on the Website. You may find your favourite photo being
used around the world in one of the 50 national editions of the SB.
