4654(II)_What remains after the visit of the Rector Major?
Follow up of the Don Bosco Successors visits
February 28, 2018
EAO, 28 February 2018 -- Each Rector Major would like to visit all 90 Salesian provinces during his first 6 years terms. Indeed until now Fr. Angel visited already 70 countries and 56 Salesian provinces in his first 4 years of his ministry. In our EAO region we are waiting for his coming only to the 3 following provinces - of Japan, Korea (2018) and China (2019). That means, that the majority of our 11 Provinces and 6 Delegation were already blessed with his animating presence. And what is important, the 10th successor of Don Bosco visited all 'peripheries' of the EAO region including many countries never before touched by his predecessors before, like Solomon Islands, Fiji, New Zealand, Laos and Mongolia.
But we can ask: And what does remain after the visit of the Rector Major? What is the lasting impact of his visit in our province? Or how do we follow the visit of the Successor of Don Bosco in our country? Indeed, how do we treasure these precious occasions?
One of the necessary ways of follow up is to keep the memory of the encounters with the Salesians, with the leadership of the province or with the young Salesians in formation. Usually the Salesian Bulletin (if there already exists!) dedicated one whole issue to this event. Or the Social Communication team of the province brings together the videos, photos or memories in some digital or paper publication.
Four weeks after the memorable arrival of Fr. Angel to Dili, Timor Leste for the celebrations of Don Bosco Feastday 2018, we are happy to enjoy rather extensive interview of the Rector Major for the Salesian Bullettin of Timor Leste (Editor: Fr. Jose de Sa) and also most of the public talks and open forum with the successor of Don Bosco (both 2004 - Fr. Chavez and 2018 - Fr. Artime) are now available on the Boscolink. The wisdom and sharing might inspire not only the ITM Salesians but also other EAO province.
