austraLasia #2768 A right proud little note from a right proud grand
provincial!
CEBU CITY: 13 December 2010 -- Good morning!
Don Bosco has arrived..... The relics of our saintly father
and founder, St. John Bosco are here with us in Cebu,
Philippines.....
Thousands of people came , stayed and venerated Don
Bosco during his whole day stay in Lourdes Parish.
Different people kept vigil the whole night and this morning
he was brought to Don Bosco Technology Center, Labangon.
There he will be venerated for the next few days until
friday.
We left Cebu city at 2:00 AM in the morning and
together with other Salesians, bosconians and parishioners,
we received Don Bosco haded over to us by the
community of St. Louis Schoo, Don Bosco Dumaguete there in
Bato, as soon as the barge docked. From there we came
back by motorcade stopping for a while in Argao
where a teary-eyed mayor Galeos ( a bosconian alumnus)
welcomed Don Bosco, whom he described as his friend , mentor
and guide. People in Lawa-an, St. Joseph's parish -
Tabunok went out to the streets waving flags as the
motorcade passed by. He was carried in
procession from McDonalds up to Lourdes with throngs of
people and parishioners lining both sides of the street to
the dance of the sinulog and the hymn "St. John
Bosco our Loving Father" (Don
Bosco ritorna),
played by the brass band of St. Louis School, Don Bosco
Dumaguete. A more than capacity crowd of
worshippers attended the mass. And then the public
veneration followed with people from all walks of life
venerating , imploring, interceding Don Bosco for
help in their needs... What a profound manifestation
of faith..... I am certain that for everyone who
attended with the proper dispositions, it was a very
beautiful and spiritually enriching experience.
We hope and pray that more and more people these
days, especially
the young, can meet Don Bosco, Patron , Friend
and Powerful Intercessor.
St. John Bosco, pray for us...
With you in Don Bosco,
Fr. George MIlitante SDB _________________
