SDB
and FMA 'Cooperator' Delegates invited to attend Macau Formation meeting
ROME: 11th January 2008 -- The EAO Regional Councillor has
recently sent out an invitation, via provincials, for SDB Delegates
around the EAO Region to attend the Formation meeting for Delegates
which runs back-to-back with the Macau Congress. The Congress runs from
22-25 May, while the Formation meeting for Delegates commences on the
25th and goes till 27th May.
With the completely renewed Project of Life (PAL)
now similar in structure to the SDB Constitutions and Regulations, the
revocation of an earlier memorandum of Agreement between SDB and FMA,
now incorporated fully into the PAL itself. In fact, the Rector
Major and Mother General, in a joint letter in April to all Delegates
SDB and FMA, point out that "Every Salesian community (SDB and FMA),
provincial and local, is involved in the task, as set out by St. John
Bosco from the beginning, of 'supporting and giving increase to' the
Association, by contributing to the formation of its members and by
making their Project of Life known".
The deadline for registration for the Delegates'
Formation meeting is 31st January.
The new PAL is available in English from at least
two sites. It can be purchased cheaply as a professionally
published book from http://www.lulu.com/content/1697620 or downloaded
as a pdf for free from that same time. It can also be downloaded
in Word format from Bosconet. Certainly the PAL as it now stands
needs to be known and studied, not only by the Salesian Cooperators,
but by individual Salesians and Salesian Sisters. In addition to
the English version, the Thai and Japanese versions are also available
- certainly the latter is available on SDL already and it is expected
that the Thai version will be available shortly in the Thai Collection
on SDL. (please note that from 10 pm Friday 11th to 6 am Saturday
12th Melbourne time, Bosconet, but not SDL, will be temporarily
unavailable for maintenance purposes)·
The aim of the Macau Delegates Formation meeting
will be to raise awareness amongst SDBs and FMAs of the major changes
which have taken place in the Salesian Cooperator movement and the
essential 'return to Don Bosco' of which it is also a part, along with
the entire Salesian Family. But additionally, the meeting will
clarify the 'job description' of the Delegate now, and attempt to draw
up an outline of a formation programme for local delegates.
The invitation letter which has gone to provincials
also contains a number of general and some particular questions by way
of a brief survey, the analysis of which is expected to assist the
formation gathering. A number of responses to this survey have
already begun to arrive in Rome.
