October 6, 2015By Sr. Maria Matalena Leota Su'atele
Honiara, Solomon Islands - Don Bosco Rural Training Center in Tetere parish of Christ The King has already more than 10 years old history and is very well established and growing with more than 200+ young men and women from many different provinces of Solomon Islands who spend there two year course in agriculture. The whole property about 10 hectars is completely used for the different learning programs in livelihood and agriculture. All of the trainees (young men and women) are living in the boarding houses at the compound of the RTC.
Today was another great day for the RTC educative and pastoral community (Director Fr. Joseph Thanh, rector of Tetere SDB community) - as every year one of the main RTC sponsors, the R.O.C. (Republic of China-Taiwan) ambassador was main guest of honor.
Sr. Matalena, the leader of Honiara FMA community, missionary from Samoa, share her feeling as one of the participants:
"It was a whole new experience for me today, to witness the hard work and determination of the Salesians, Staff and Students of Don Bosco Rural Training Centre Tetere, as they rejoiced in the Harvesting of their Rice Field today!
With the great help and support of the Ambassador of Taiwan and their government, these young people are fortunate to be able to share their experience with other young people of their country and community. Well done to all!"
