4717(III)_Another year of saying 'Yes' to the Lord!
Renewal of Profession in DBTI-Makati
May 5, 2018
By Br. John Dominic Coral, SDB
Makati City, the Philippines, 4 May 2018 -- It is around this time of the year again when most of the temporarily professed brothers from both the FIN and FIS provinces renew their religious profession. Cl. John Joseph Aguila, SDB and Br. John Coral, SDB made their renewal today during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist of the Salesian community of Don Bosco Technical Institute--Makati.
The rector of the community, Fr. Favie Faldas, SDB presided the renewal of profession of the two new practical trainees of DBTI Makati.
Fr. Favie gave a profound reflection during his homily on what is it to be a priest and religious in this present time. Recalling the recent deportation of Sr. Patricia Fox and the recent killing of Fr. Marc Ventura of Cagayan, he presented to the young confreres the reality of the battleground and at the same time, the challenges of the mission that awaits for them.
On the other hand, he also reminded them about the joy and beauty of the practical training stage in their journey as Salesians. This stage is an appropriate time to apply what they have learned from the previous years of formation and at the same time to continue their pursuit for learning.
Towards the conclusion of the homily, Fr. Favie imparted his message by quoting from Pope Francis’ Gaudete et Exultate: “Growth in holiness is a journey in community, side by side with others.”
He assured the two practical trainees the support and help of the community as they embark on their next stage of formation.
