Japan's newest Salesian Brother makes his
first profession in Cebu
CEBU: 18th October 2006 -- Today Bro. Minoru Peter Watanabe SDB made his First
Profession as a Salesian Brother at Don Bosco Missionary Seminary, Lawaan,
Cebu. At 23 he is now the youngest Salesian Brother in Japan. He made his
profession before Fr. Julius Arthur Sanchez SDB – FIS Provincial and witnessed
by Fr. Orlando Puppo SDB – GIA Provincial and Fr. Shinjiro Urata, his formator
from the Salesian Seminary in Chofu, Tokyo. Present too for the occasion were
Salesians, Cooperators, seminarians, alumni, seminary workers, religious
sisters amongst whom two Caritas Sisters of Miyazaki, and young people where
Bro. Mino has carried out his apostolate.
After a one and a half year absence from Japan, he now takes
a month's vacation with his family before moving to Don Bosco Technology Center
in Cebu City to coach the school football team, to assist the boarders as well
as to polish his English. After this school year ends in March 2007, however,
he goes back to Japan to continue his university course in English.
On his profession day, Bro. Minoru took inspiration from
Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my True Shepherd. There is nothing I shall want.”
“Bro. Minoru is full of enthusiasm”, observed Fr. Puppo. May
his enthusiasm never wane. May it instead attract more young people to
become Salesian Brothers.
