Don Bosco hosts Youth Star Cambodia Pre-departure

PHNOM PENH: 2nd August 2006 -- 'Youth Star Cambodia' is an
NGO youth volunteer group that does voluntary services in education and
youth development to Cambodia. Its mission is to build a just and
peaceful nation through citizen service, civic leadership and social
entrepreneurship. The youth volunteers are of Buddhist, Christian
and Muslim affiliations. The pre-departure training began on 17th
July and continues until 16th August at the Don Bosco Youth Centre
Phnom Penh campus. The Rector of the school, Fr Leo Ochoa, was
invited to give a welcoming remark to all guests and youth volunteers
for the opening. In these remarks, Fr Leo reminded them of the
C:A:S:H characteristics of leadership: Creativity, Abilities, Service
and Harmony. The co-director of Youth Star Cambodia, Mr Outh
Renne, presented the main objective of the group - to promote civic
values and a culture of volunteerism amongst young people. Don
Bosco Technical School itself has more than fifty youth volunteers in
its outreach programs on education, youth centres and social programs.
