MAKATI: 30th June 2006 -- 25 years ago on the 26th of June,
Fr. Egidio Vigano
officially established the Salesian community of St. Francis of Sales,
and entrusted to it Salesiana Publishers, Inc., the official
publishing house of the Philippine Province.
To celebrate the event, the now 60-person strong
Salesiana spent one whole
day revisiting the Vision-Mission statement of the publishing
enterprise. They reiterated their strong desire to share in the vision
of the Catholic Church and of the Salesian Congregation, and
re-committed themselves to offer publications and services for the
total growth of children and youth.
In line with the 2006 Strenna, they enriched the vision-mission
statement with a clear desire and promise to form healthy, happy, and
holy families.
True to this commitment, more than 30 employees
spent
two afternoons at a seminar-workshop on Family
Life. They were privileged to have as speaker and guide "Piling"
Porsuelo, from Del Monte, Bukidnon, a barrio in the southern part of
the country.
The couple, Ely and Piling Porsuelo, are known all over the country
for their dedication to family life, and in particular, to natural
family planning. They were the mainstay of the Family Life Program
that was conducted for many years in Del Monte. They were invited by
John Paul II to be part of the Pontifical Council of the Family, and
for several years traveled all the way to Rome to share their
experiences and insights on the world level. They continue to assist
and guide couples in the entire spectrum of family life.
The afternoons were spiced with laughter and excited
reactions as
"Piling" tackled highly sensitive issues in responsible parenthood,
and narrated her often amusing yet real experiences. Several employees
ended the workshops with their charts in hand, open to understand and
monitor their own reproductive cycles.
