Don Bosco celebrates 50 years in Pakistan!
(A 'towards #1500' entry from Pakistan. For
further details see #1492 on Bosconet. As you can
see the entries are varied and interesting so far)
LAHORE: 19th March 2006 -- It is
not a joke! Don Bosco High School in Lahore is celebrating its
Golden Jubilee this very year. This is a beautiful school with a
good name in town and at was the idea of a Belgian Capuchin missionary,
great devotee of Don Bosco. Every 31st January the Archbishop
rushes from Mass at our Technical Centre to join in the other school's
celebrations honouring our Founder. This year, on the occasion of
the Feast, we sent them calendars of Mary Help of Christians and Don
Bosco and 50 lives of the Saint in Urdu so their students could learn a
bit about the Father and Teacher of Youth. And the big news
is....some collaboration will be possible this year since the principal
who has served in the post for the past 48 years has finally been
changed, and the new managements has already publically expressed the
hope of our involvement. At present more than 1,000 boys take
their Basic Education at Don Bosco High School and we can foresee even
a possible affiliation with them for our boys who should take some
basic education before joining the Technical Training courses. An
unexpected celebration for the Salesian Family
