British High Commission presents charity
proceeds to Don Bosco Tech - Boroko

PORT MORESBY: 17th March 2006 -- The British High
Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, H.E. Mr. David
Gordon Macleod presented a cheque worth K6,423.00 (nearly USD 2,200) to
Fr. Roger Miranda,
Rector of DBTI-Boroko, in a continued effort to support
wide-ranging
community based projects in PNG. Fr. Valeriano Barbero, Salesian
pioneer in PNG and Bro. Jesus Garcia, the Economer of DBTI witnessed
the handing-over of the cheque.
Don Bosco is PNG's leader in the secondary technical
education field.
The proceeds of the annual charity event to mark Burn's Night
hosted by the British High Commissioner in February raised K12,846.00
(USD 4,370) for the Sir Buri Kidu Heart Foundation and the Don Bosco
Technological
Institute in Port Moresby.
The British High Commission, Port Moresby is focused on
supporting
technical and vocational learning in PNG which lays such a critical
role in training people for the PNG job market and economy.
This year the BHC provided Don Bosco Secondary School in
Araimiri,
Gulf Province with computers and sewing machines worth almost
K20,000.00 (USD6,800) under the DfID Small Grant Scheme Fund.
