Your help requested: a 'portal poll' and a young
leaders in catechetics programme
ROME: 15th March 2006 -- While portals and
catechetics may not seem to be directly connected, you could be
surprised! The only way to discover if there is a connection is
to check one for the other... but that aside, here are two requests for
readers to consider and, where possible, act on.
PORTAL POLL
An online opinion poll is being conducted on the
www.sdb.org , the Salesian of Don Boco portal. You are invited to
participate. The final date for doing so is 31 March. The
web portal was set up in May 2003, following a decision of the General
Council and after establishing criteria based on three studies: an
online questionnaire, a research period conducted with young Salesians,
and an investigation into the needs of the various departments at
Salesian HQ. The portal as it currently exists integrates the
official website of the Congregation, and the website of ANS, its news
agency. It also links to the Salesian Bulletin (all which have a
web site) and some 900 websites belonging to the Salesian Family.
Over two and a half years it has shown a threefold growth in the number
of daily visits - from 650 in December 2003 to 2029 in December
2005. You are invited to give feedback using the procedure you
will find on the home page. This will help improve the quality of
the site for the future. Results and analysis will be published
on 16 April, Easter Sunday.
CATECHETICS
Some readers are in need of some materials relating
to the formation of young leaders as catechists. This is where
the contacts that austraLasia has built up over the years can really
pay dividends, because there si no doubt at all that such programmes
exist around our region. Could you please, if you are aware of
such a programme and its accompanying materials, let us know about that
and then we can do one of two things or both - put you in touch
directly with the enquirers and/or make some of this material available
via Bosconet. There is already some material on www.sdb.org
though not necessarily in English
Look forward to your activity in both the above
areas!
