"We proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as
your servants, for Jesus' sake": two Thais newly ordained today
BAMPONG: 14th January 2006 -- A short while ago, in the
parish Church at Bampong in Ratchaburi Diocese, Thailand, Fr Joseph
Manachai and Fr Joseph Kriengsak were ordained priests. The ordaining
bishop was Bishop Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil from Surat Thani Diocese,
so it was an 'all Joe show'! The large church was filled to the
brim with seminarians, aspirants (from various branches of the Salesian
Family), Religious belonging to the Salesian Family as well as other
Congregations, diocesan priests, Past Pupils, young people, lay
faithful and family. Almost 60 priests, the majority of them
Salesians, concelebrated. The whole atmosphere was both solemn
and youthful, especially in the hymns chosen for the ceremony.
Both Fr Manachai and Fr Kriengsak were beaming with joy and in their
address to the congregation in the church sent an appeal to young
people to follow in their footsteps. The motto they chose for
their souvenir was taken from 2 Cor. 4:5: "We proclaim Jesus Christ as
Lord, and ourselves as your servants, for Jesus' sake".
Fr Manachai completed his theological studies
in Kristu Jyoti COllege, Bangalore, India. Fr Kriengsak completed
his theological studies in Cremisan-Jersualem.
