austraLasia #2559 Young - and not so young - Salesians to the rescue!
THE WORLD: 15th December 2009 -- With the 18th December just a
few days off, and Salesians gearing up for a special and profound
moment of personal and public profession to recognise the birth of our
Congregation, and to return to what moved those first 18 people, the
reader might like to follow the various links or other references
indicated below.
It is interesting the number of young and not so
young Salesians who have been in touch to offer something that they
would like to share with the Congregation, so there's a bit of
something for everyone below.
Philosophy students from Karunapuram, Warangal,
Hyderabad province (INH), have prepared a series of prayer events
starting precisely today, 15th and leading into the 18th.
Elements of these prayers may be useful in community. They are
available on SDL
in the Resources collection (subject 150th). Thanks to these good
young men and to Bro Vincent Castilino who runs the 'Drop of Honey'
Blog on sdb.org for sending these along.
Bro Philip Bua from AFW, a Nigerian Salesian
currently in Practical Training, has prepared a PPT presentation
(actually in PPS format) on Don Rua but it's also just as
applicable to the 150th. Because SDL separates music and ppt
files, you may need to download both separately and just ensure they
are in the same folder. It's very nicely done and Philip is to be
congratulated for this effort. Again it's in the resources
collection if you go
'Creators' and look for 'Philip Bua', and if you want the music
(Bright eyes!) to go with it, then
here it is. because it's a WMA file you could also search for it
under 'formats' - it's the only wma file we have there.
We have already indicated Fr Marc Barry's (AUL)
preparation of phrases from the Constitutions, visible from
sdb.org here. These javascript files can now be found on any
number of Salesian English-language websites around the world.
Marc has also prepared them in laminated form on blue card with the
idea that they could be put into a fishbowl and then placed somewhere
for people to choose one at appropriate moments. we have the
'finished' version of these laminated bits here but that's not much use
to the rest of you. The idea is well worth taking up,
though. So we gave some thought to other ways of tackling this
idea and came up with a special FOCUS for the 18th which should be
published on sdb.org tonight, Rome time. Just look for the home
page of www.sdb.org
and go FOCUS. We have chosen some 50 phrases from the
Constitutions and a photo to go with them, chosen by the man behind all
the good photos on sdb.org! Bro Hilario Seo from KOR
province. And of course there's the Flash (swf) banner on
sdb.org. Should you want that you need only ask for it and we can
give it to you.
There's more but that's possibly enough for the
moment. Enjoy! And feel very free to share other resources,
since it is so easy to help lots of people this way. Whatever one
person spends time preparing for his local situation is bound to be
helpful to someone else in another place, and austraLasia is very happy
to play a role in moving these things around.
------
correction on the correct title for VIS mentioned in #2558: Volontariato
Internazionale per lo Sviluppo (instead of 'Salesiano' which seemed
obvious but it aint so!)
