Graduates Batch 2009
accredited by TVET Standardization of Cambodia
PHNOM PENH: 28th August 2009 -- August 28, 2009 was indeed a
very happy day for Don Bosco Technical School Phnom Penh. The School’s
Certification Day, an honored tradition since 1991.
Like any Graduation Day ceremony, Don Bosco
Certification Day recognized the educational and moral journey that
students have taken during their two years of stay in Don Bosco and
will continue to take as they move forward into the world of work. “As
the graduates go forth in their journey of life, they will remember not
only the knowledge and the skills that they have learnt at Don Bosco
but especially the advice and encouragement they have received from
their superiors, teachers and friends. Yes, they might forget many
things that they have learned in their mind, but they will certainly
remember and keep whatever they have learned for the hearts and souls
as they are going to prove very valuable as they begin their lives into
the world of work and society. They are valuable because they are based
on the values of trust, hard work, love and spirit of Don Bosco” said
Fr. Leo Ochoa, the school’s director.
This year’s certificates are even more valuable as
they were given with authority from the Ministry of Labor and
Vocational Training. Graduates 2009 have passed the accreditation and
standardization category from the Department of Technical Vocational
Education and Training of the Ministry.
Fr. Roel Soto, the school’ dean of studies, invited
H.E. Tep Eoun Deputy Director General of the Department of
Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Ministry of Labor
and Vocational Training, to distribute the certificates. Mr.
Kheng Khemara, TVET officer from the said Ministry joined him. In
his address he publicly acknowledged the contribution of Don Bosco
technical education and training in the development of Cambodia as a
sure foundation of knowledge, work ethic and efficient skills that
continue on through life and the world of work.
This year’s graduation Don Bosco sent 298 skilled
laborers into the world of work in various technical disciplines such
as Mechanics, Welding, Automotive, Electricity Electronics-Computers
and Printing.
Concluding the Certification Day, the Rector
reminded all teachers and students of Don Bosco’s words (paraphrased):
“He who does not acquire the habit of work in his youth shall always be
a lazy bones into old age with dishonor to his country, his relatives
and perhaps irreparable damage to his soul”.
